He fought the good fight

Hey everyone. It is with such a heavy heart that I am updating this blog today. Jason lost the battle this morning. I can't quite catch my breath when it hits me that he really is gone. I have never met anyone so postive, so determined, and so grateful while in the fight for his life. Jason was hysterically funny, smart and loyal. There are so many things about the way he lived his life and fought this fight that I admire so much. He beat the odds and survived so much longer than so many others with stage 4 melanoma. I know along his journey, he influenced and helped  many others. I am so grateful and thankful that I was allowed to be part of his life. He impacted me so much, and I will never be the same. He wanted so much to spread the word about skin cancer, and about getting tested frequently. I will honor him by continuing to tell everyone about his life and death, and about the danger of skin cancer. If you would like to honor him by giving a gift of support for his family as they are attempting to put their lives back together with the giant empty place that cannot be filled, please feel free to do so by clicking on the link to paypal and make a donation. It will go directly to his family. Please keep them in your prayers.

Why you should help......

Two years ago at age 34, Jason received devastating news when he was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma (skin cancer.) The prognosis for this type of cancer in that stage is not good. Historically there is a 9-13% chance for recovery. After hearing this news, Jason refused to give up hope. For the last two years, he and his wife Tonya have bravely been fighting this battle. They have continuously sought out life saving treatments, and Jason continues to beat the odds. They have endured countless surgeries and treatments in Georgia, Tennesee, Texas, and Massachusetts. Jason remains positive, determined, and grateful in the midst of this storm in his life. He has also had the opportunity to share his story and inspire others who are suffering with the same disease, and point them in the direction of the best doctors. He even plans to write a book about his experience one day. His constant treatments and travel have created a financial need for him and his family. After two years of privately fighting for his life, it is time for friends of Jason to rally around him and Tonya, so he can continue to focus on getting the best treatment and getting well. I know that there is no one person who can meet all of their needs, but if everyone will do something,  it will go a long way. I am suggesting that each person donate $20. Some of you can do more. Please just give your best gift. Refuse to do nothing. All funds will go directly to Jason for his medical, and travel costs and for any other needs he and his family may have.
